"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
So I watched this cinematic masterpiece, this Hollywood icon, on the big screen for the first time in my life, and you know what? It did not suck one bit!
Well, my initial thought was to threaten her with the "D" word, but that would be a slight overreaction considering you found yourself a woman who likes "Star Wars" and "The Lord of the Rings." As for "helping" her, I can't think of a way to really help, but it's important to understand that we often watch movies we have no desire to. Not only that, we sometimes watch movies we make a conscious effort not to watch, whether we're against it morally or for the fact that it just looks like pure crap. The point is, we all see movies we don't want to and that we don't like, so what harm can there be in watching one that someone recommends to you despite having no desire to? Heaven forbid you should watch a movie you don't like, as if you've never done that before. Not to mention a lack of desire often means lack of expectations, and that is a ripe time for being surprised by a movie in a good way.
Claptrap, my wife likes Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, but she has never seen Raiders of the Lost Ark and has no desire to. How can I help her?
